Farm School Program

Students began the day in the classroom where we spent some time reflecting on the week’s excursion to Kilcunda. This included a discussion about renewable and non-renewable energy sources and how they relate to the concept of sustainability.

Next, we loaded up the trailer with plants and delivered them to a nearby community nursery. This relates to the units Support Nursery Work and Support Ecosystem Restoration.

These plants will eventually be planted to created habitat for the endangered Helmeted Honeyeaters.

This was followed by a visit to a local revegetation site, where the students harvested ‘Native River mint’ cuttings. We then too these cutting to the nursery, where they were potted up into tube stock, also contributing to the unit Support Nursery Work.
