Woori Yallock Farm School
We delved into the topic of ‘forests’ and discussed the many ways that forest environments can be valued.
The students visited a sawmill and a logging coup where we discussed the history of forestry in the area.
This was followed by a visit to the ‘Hackett Tree’, an old mountain ash in Powelltown, where the students assisted with some track maintenance work, contributing to the unit ‘Maintain Cultural Places’. The students also learned about the environmental and historical significance of the tree.
Finally, we hiked to 7 Acre Rock, where we were rewarded with beautiful views out towards Western Port Bay.
