Woori Yallock Farm School
We started the day with an orienteering activity. The students exercised their navigation and teamwork skills by finding a series of markers hidden throughout the Farm School site.
Next, we delved into the unit ‘Support Ecosystem Restoration’ by completed a fauna survey. The student first learned how to identify a range of frog calla and applied their new identification skills at our wetlands. We were able to identify at least 3 different frog species.
Later in the morning the students completed revegetation work around the wetlands, contributing to the creation of frog habitat and relating to the units Support Ecosystem Restoration and Work Safely.
In the afternoon, we spent time in the classroom completing the theoretical aspects of the Support Ecosystem Restoration unit. Finally, we visited a site that had been previously revegetated and discussed the growth rate pf the trees and the positive effect of native vegetation on the local environment and amenity.
