Woori Yallock Farm School

We went on an adventure to Toolangi including a visit to some very tall mountain ash trees and discussed their roll in absorbing and storing carbon.
Next, the students hiked up a steep climb to the top of the Mount St Leonard Lookout and fire observation tower. Here we rehashed last week’s lessons about the factors influencing bushfires and reflected on the impact of the 2009 Black Saturday fires.

The final stop of the excursion was the Wirrawilla Rainforest. The students walked amongst the ancient Myrtle Beech trees and took in the sounds of the flowing water. We stopped at various spots along the path to discuss themes relating to the Certificate 1 in Conservation and Ecosystem Management course.

In the afternoon, we returned to the Farm School, where we spent some time in the classroom reflecting on our favourite aspects of the program so far.
