Yarra Hills Secondary College -Mt Evelyn Campus is set in the picturesque hills of the Yarra Ranges, situated at the entrance to the Morrison Reserve recreational and educational precinct, off Old Hereford Rd, Mt Evelyn.
Outside of the main school buildings, the Campus site includes a football/soccer oval, basketball courts, a full size gymnasium with change rooms and access to the newly completed $2.8 million Morrison Athletics track. The campus has subject specific rooms for Music, Visual Arts, Information and Computer Technology, Foods, Textiles, Languages Other Than English (Italian), Science (including labs and prep rooms), Woodwork, P.E./Outdoor Ed as well as Maths, English and Humanities generalist classrooms. A Campus Library, Instrumental Music rehearsal rooms and a large Performing Arts complex are also on the lower level of the main building.
Mt Evelyn is a year 7 – 12 campus of the college, providing small class sizes and an individualised learning environment for students from the local community and throughout the Yarra Valley. Our junior program is comprehensive, and includes a consistent Home Group mentor teacher to provide support and guidance throughout a student’s schooling. Both support and extension programs are in place to make sure each student receives targeted and beneficial assistance with their own personal pathway through schooling. At Year 10, students also have access to VCE subjects which are held on the Mooroolbark Campus. Students who choose to do this, are transported by bus to Mooroolbark Campus and returned after classes conclude. At present, many students from within the Year 10 cohort are taking advantage of this opportunity to accelerate their learning.
Yarra Hills Secondary College is also renowned for its exceptional co-curricular opportunities. All students have the chance to participate in Performing Arts, Instrumental Music, Sport and Outdoor Education programs both within the campus and across the college. The school also encourages strong links with the community and respect for the environment. There are currently programs in place at all year levels addressing and supporting these important issues.
